Job Description – day to day responsibilities

  • Walk dogs outdoors in all weather conditions (anywhere from 20 – 40 minutes at a time)

  • Understand special requests and conditions for each dog

  • Ensure security of their homes when arriving and departing residence

  • Give each dog love and attention

  • Ensure each dog is getting exercise and potty breaks

  • Ensure safety of the dogs you are walking and those (humans and dogs) around them

  • Remove pet waste (from walk and yard, if applicable)

  • Take photos of the dogs

  • Refresh water, wipe paws and give treats

  • Communicate with clients and schedule appointments (may conduct consultations for new clients)

  • Conduct initial consultation with new clients and fill out client information sheets

  • Update clients with email/text including photos and videos of their dogs

  • Feeding, administer pills

  • Answer inquiries related to your service

  • Be available during weekends, nights and holidays

  • Be available to cover for vacation/sick days

  • Record which dog(s) you walked, how long the walks were, anything abnormal that you noticed during the walk

  • Manage your own schedule via phone, email and text message

  • Keep track of your time and submit to the employer

 

Special degrees or additional requirements?

  • Pet First Aid and CPR certified (Course and materials paid by employer – course to be completed with a pass score prior to hire date)

  • Bonded and insured (paid by employer)

  • Ability to walk 10-15 miles/day

  • Ability to handle difficult dogs

  • Be comfortable with all types of dogs

  • Ability to lift 40+lbs

  • On-hand access to smartphone, email/internet access

  • Proven strong organizational skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Be reliable/responsible/punctual

  • Great communication and interpersonal skills/customer service skills

  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Live in the service area
